What a great weekend spent #outdoors with fellow #adventure buddies from our UCLoA adventure club. We took advantage of the 3-day Federal holiday and #camped, #hiked, #climbed, and #explored #Joshua #Tree. It was my first time at JT and I'm a little disappointed in myself for not coming out here sooner, being that it's only a short 2-hour drive from LA. I guess I was always more fond of alpine camping, with lakes and mountains, and camping in the desert with little shade never really appealed to me.

There's an incredible amount of things to do and see! I can see why it's a #rock #climbers paradise. We spent hours rock climbing and scrambling on the unique rock formations and still barely scratched the service of this expansive desert wilderness. It's a rock climbers playground.

The surreal #geologic features of this unique #desert, sculpted by strong wings and rains, gives this place such a stunning landscape and adds to the wonder of this vast wilderness. A fascinating variety of plants and animals also makes its home here in the desert ecosystem.

The dark night skies are a place where pro and amateur photographers come to hone their craft. Unfortunately for us, it was cloudy the nights that we were out there, and so we couldn't take good night shots as we had hoped.

This place has definitely endeared on me, and has opened me up for future desert exploring.
