Bodega Bay Outdoor Adventure

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

It probably goes without saying that #Northern #California is one of my most favorite places to #visit and #explore. I am so very fortunate to call SoCal my home base and to be able to enjoy the uniqueness that is NorCal within driving distance from my house. At least once a year we pack our car and head north on the 5, passing cattle farms and almond groves through the central valley, and grapevines and rolling hills on the central coast, till we get to the cloud covered basins of the Bay Area. The drive is gorgeous. Along our way we make sure to stop by a few of our favorite pit stops and to catch golden hour.

On this #trip we headed north through #Sonoma County to #Bodega #Bay which is located northwest of San Francisco and west of Santa Rosa. The bay straddles the boundary between Sonoma County to the north and Marin County to the south. The bay is a marine habitat and best known for it's #fishing and #shellfish harvesting.

We spent time with our friends hiking and exploring, and enjoying California wines and feasting on the bounties of the area. We had a #Dungeness #crab boil with live local crabs caught off the waters from the bay, and fresh oysters from local oyster farms. We ate at the famous Spud Point Crab Company and had some of the best clam chowder I've had in my life! When we go to NorCal all we dream about is wine, seafood, and fresh baked bread, and we make sure to have our fill before the trip home.

Next year I'm planning to return to get on my friend's boat and actually do some crab harvesting. Until next time.
